Mandatory part of every great newsletter
- Before every newsletter, find some extra time and profile your potentional clients, try to define their expectations
- Trying to outline the benefit for your potential client will get, yet avoid direct and stupid sales letters
- Avoid being arrogant, too complicated or too simple
- An extraordinary subject must give an overview of what this email is about and catch the reader's immediate interest
- Message body should be as short as possible, too much information kills interest, better group your topics
- Defining URL keep in mind that it has to be unique and should give a hint about the message - like subject does
- Message body needs to contain links, it lets us collect valuable information what really interests the readers
- Message body should be simple and nice
- Message should be printable
- Analyze whether your messages can be personalized adding recipients name, company, email or other fields you can use into subject or body, it makes your message more familiar or gives information to the recipient whose email address the campaign was sent to
- Message should work in different email reading softwares
- While copying content into the body from other sources verify that Skype hasn't put their code into the content
- Avoid copying your own content sent by the campaign engine, it includes special hash into links and links would not work later on
- Always prepare both html and text versions of your message
- Your company contact data in the message is mandatory and required by E.U. laws
- Be sure the recipients can unsubscribe at any time and your message contains unsubscribe links that is visible enough
- Add an appology if your content would be disliked by the receipient and a guide to the recipient how to unsubscribe
- Verify that the templates you are using work properly in different email reading softwares
- Prepare a group of people with whom you can test your new newsletters and who share their opinions openly before dispatching the campaign
- Remember to upload pictures with names that describe the content on the picture best, files should be named using symbols a-z and 0-9 lower cases only without spaces and dots
- Suggested format for pictures is .jpg, supported are also .gif and .png
- Note that pictures are added into the server which has an online connection and every time the recipient browses your message, pictures are downloaded from internet, so deleting pictures is strongly prohibited
- Due to the previous point it is highly recommended to organize your pictures from day one into separated folders, otherwise you end up with problems finding the right content for your messages
- Once again, test your messages many times so you are sure that they really work, test 700 times if necessary, avoid sending unwanted spam
- Test SMTP servers also, sometimes there are technical issues you cannot control, switch off servers that are out of order
- Verify that your idea really works, your message is interesting and gives something new to your recipients
- Pick the right timing for your campaign dispatch. NB! it differs by the nature of business
